Announcement and Call for Papers and Participation

The first two WEMP4 events held in Geneva, May 2000, and in San Jose, CA, in June 2001, were great successes with tutorials given by leading experts in the field, technical sessions of very high quality, and all-sold-out exhibition events. To continue this highly successful activity, to track MPEG-4 deployment in various markets, and to further energize the development of MPEG-4 products, theThird Workshop and Exhibition on MPEG-4 will be held from June 25 to June 27, 2002, in San Jose, California at the San Jose Fairmont located at 170 South Market Street, San Jose, California 95113, U.S.A.

The event is organized and sponsored by the MPEG-4 Industry Forum. It will again include tutorials on MPEG-4, exhibitions that showcase MPEG-4 products, and technical sessions on MPEG-4-related research topics. The technical papers will be published in the Proceedings of the Workshop. Contributions are solicited in the following categories:

Technical Papers

Original technical papers are solicited on the research topics related to MPEG-4:
  • Architectures, designs and other MPEG-4 implementation research topics
  • Innovative applications and services using MPEG-4
  • Video coding algorithms for the 'JVT Codec' (MPEG-4 Part 10)
  • Advanced audio coding technologies
  • Technologies for the Animation Framework extension to MPEG-4 (AFX) and for Multi-User worlds
  • Encoding optimization algorithms (Audio and Visual)
  • Other research directly related to the MPEG-4 Standard
  • Author’s Schedule:
    • Deadline for Submission of Papers: March 15, 2002
    • Notification of Acceptance: May 1, 2002
    • Deadline for Submission of Final Papers: May 15, 2002

The full four-page paper in double column format, including paper title, authors’ names and affiliation, and a short abstract is requested. Only electronic submissions (pdf format) will be accepted. Those authors who are unable to send in their contribution electronically are asked to contact the Publications Chairs ( NLing@scu.edu and togunfunmi@scu.edu, fax: 1-408-554-5474) for further instructions. Once accepted, the authors will be asked to prepare the final 4-page paper for the publication in the Workshop Proceedings.

Demonstration/Exhibition
